The History and Evolution
Amruth Kesari Depot traces its origins back to the early days of Dhoddapete—known today as Avenue Road in Bengaluru—where its founder Sri Neelkantappa established a humble Grandhige Angadi.
Grandhige Angadi is a store which specializes in supplying materials for Indian style of worship, including Pooja, Homa, and Havanas. These unique materials—often natural elements like herbs, shrubs, forest produce, and traditional minerals—were originally selected by ancient sages for their medicinal qualities in addition to their spiritual purpose.
This specialization differentiates Grandhige Angadi stores from common provisional or departmental stores.
The Evolution into a Herbal Trade Hub
The global surge and acceptance of traditional practices like Ayurveda and Unani presented a positive turning point for Amruth Kesari Depot.
The traditional herbs sold for worship purposes were the raw materials required by practitioners of these ancient medicinal sciences. Over the decades, Amruth Kesari Depot has grown from a small and local pooja-material selling Grandhige Angadi into a leading wholesale and retail supplier of Ayurvedic and Unani raw materials.

Our Legacy of Leadership
Sri Neelkantappa
Laid the foundation for the saga that is Amruth Kesari Depot. He established the store in Dhoddapete in a small building, offering sacred materials essential for Indian worship and spiritual practices.
Sri Parmeshaiah
Continuing his father’s legacy, he strengthened the Grandhige Angadi concept and firmly established Amruth Kesari Depot’s reputation as a trusted name for pooja and traditional materials in Bengaluru.
Sri P. S. Ravishankar
Taking the reins in 1986, Sri Ravishankar transformed Amruth Kesari Depot from a traditional store into a thriving wholesale enterprise. His extensive knowledge of herbs, pooja materials, dry fruits, and spices helped expand the business beyond Bengaluru and Karnataka.
His charm and people-handling skills allowed the retail segment to grow. He also built strong relationships with Ayurveda manufacturers and practitioners, enabling the company to cater to both retail (B2C) and wholesale (B2B) markets under one roof.
Under his leadership, the store moved from Avenue Road to its current home in Mamulpete.
Mr. Ravishankar successfully ran the business for more than 30 years till 2019, when he passed on the reins of Amruth Kesari to his son, Mr. Chiranth.
Sri Chiranth R. S
Joined the business in 2010 and learned the nuances of the trade under the able tutelage of his father, Mr. Ravishankar. He took over ownership in 2019, sharpening the company’s focus on the herbal segment, expanding the inventory and quality of herbs while maintaining the heritage of the Grandhige Angadi image.
His vision is to make Amruth Kesari Depot a world-class supplier of herbs—serving Ayurveda, Unani, and wellness industries across the world.
For him, this work is not just commerce, but a service to mankind in general and Ayurveda/Unani in particular.
